Las Almontaras is a small village with 2 bars, 2 bakers, a Coviran shop, a primary school, builders, metalworker, plumbers, electricians, church, etc.

The town of Castril is 25 minutes drive away and this has all of the usual amenities including whitewashed, cobbled streets, a popular river walk, swimming pool open in July/August, tourist information centre with museum, etc. The surrounding countryside is fantastic for outdoor pursuits and wildlife watching.
