There are three hundred and twenty days of sunshine in this area of Spain, it has a cheap cost of living and a range of fiestas and leisure activities available to suit all tastes.

Caniles, the nearest village is very pretty with various bars, shops and a weekly market. There's a large park at the top of the town with a café where you can sit and enjoy a drink and watch the world go by.

The large town of Baza is five minutes by car and this has has every amenity you could ever wish for, including large supermarkets, bars, a theatre, restaurants, sports clubs, gyms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, etc. 

Baza is famous for its "Cascamorras" festival, which takes place on September 6 and is just a 10-minute drive from the beautiful Lake Negratín, which has beach areas, hot springs and water sports available.

Beautiful Granada city, with the Alhambra Palace is only an hour away by car. Almeria airport is around 1h30 by car. Alicante and Murcia airports are around 2hrs drive away, both fast motorway connections.

The coast is an hour´s drive away. The ski-ing in the Sierra Nevada is only an hour and a half by car.
